CHENNAI: With a focus on raising awareness about women empowerment, Sibi Mathew embarked on a 3,000 km-long road journey on a bike. The 8-day-long bike ride will conclude in Chennai on Wednesday.
While describing her experience during the road trip, Sibi said that we must learn to trust people. She added that during her travel, she met different type of persons but most them were helpful and welcoming.
Sibi said her fascination towards biking goes back to her childhood days. Sibi, who hails from Kerala, added that her parents discouraged her from learning bike riding and said that it was only for boys.
After getting married to a farmer in Gudalur (nilgiri district) near Ooty, she adopted farming as her hobby and helped her husband in farms.
Years after the marriage, her passion for biking was reborn when the couple decided to gift a bike to their son, who is studying engineering.
She discussed her dream of learning bike riding and persuaded him to help her. Sibi was helped by her son in learning bike riding.
Initially, she embarked on an about 100km-long bike trip journey from Ooty (Nilgiri District) to Avinashi (Coimbatore District). She also won a place in Limca book of records for her bike journey.
