Power Grid Corporation of India Limited inaugurated a water reservoir at Kalinamai in Senapati as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and handed it over to the villagers.
The water reservoir measures 22ft x 20ft with a height of 10 feet.
The programme was graced by NH Laskar, Managing Director of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited with his entourage, Rathailung Panmei, SO (Civil), Manipur Tribal Development Corporation (MTDC), Lohrii Momiiu, chairman, Kalinamei Village and other village authorities, K Hopeson Mao, former SDSA president, social activists and many public leaders.
During the event, the villagers hailed the Company and conveyed their gratitude for the humanitarian development undertaken in their area to alleviate water scarcity.
On spot inquiry, it was found that the water reservoir was built after minute observation by directing all the small perennial water sources to a single water tank.
The project under CSR, which itself is intended to alleviate and assist the society, has served its purpose by bringing about potable and clean water to the doorsteps of the villagers.
In the short inaugural programme, NH Laskar thanked the villagers of Kalinamai for their positive response and co-operation in undertaking the project.
He also conveyed that the water reservoir will serve a vital and significant purpose to the village.
With constant and stringent monitoring of the Manipur Tribal Development Coiporation (MTDC), the project has been brought to fruition.
He urged all stakeholders to be a responsible steward to utilize the water reservoir to its full potential.
He also admitted and expressed regret in the delay of the project by 3 months.
The project built at the hilltop will supply water to the entire village.
