Unable To Move His Body, Bengaluru Teen Takes His Bed To The Exam Hall, Scores 72%!

“Where there is a will, there’s a way” is an old saying. And, there can be no better real-life example of the phrase proved right than a recent case from Bengaluru. Kanhaiya was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition at the age of seven. The disorder caused him progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass which got him completely bedridden eventually. But this did not affect his will and determination to be well-educated.

After completing his school like a regular kid, he enrolled himself at BES pre-university College in Malleswaram. He used to attend one class each day on a wheelchair as he did not have the strength to sit for a long time. But gradually, his condition worsened and he became completely immobile. Hence, he stopped attending college.

Kanhaiya’s mother, Sri Lakshmi told TOI that looking at her son’s deteriorating health, she was not in favor of him appearing for the examinations. But Kanhaiya insisted and appeared for the exams. A bed was arranged for him in the exam hall. He dictated the answers to his scribe and gave all his exams. “As he was losing strength, he couldn’t attempt questions for all 100 marks in every subject,” his mother told TOI.

Preparing for the exams was also a task for Kanhaiya as he was completely bedridden. He would read books from a glass screen desk kept inverted over his head. “Once he was done with a page, he would call me to turn it,” his mother recalls.

Despite all the difficulties and health issues, Kanhaiya cleared the exams with flying colors by scoring 72% marks. He plans to take admission in B.com now.

Kudos to the boy for his will power and dedication! Moreover, owing to the health issues, he could have taken an exemption from language papers in the exams but didn’t. We appreciate Kanhaiya’s hard work and grit. He’s such a great inspiration for all of us!

Take a bow, boy!
