Ujjain: Students of various government and private schools participated in an eco friendly Ganesh idol making workshop organised by Lokmanya Tilak Ganesh Utsav Samiti at Chimanganj Krishi Upaj Mandi premises, on Tuesday. The workshop ‘sikho, sikhao aur swayam banao mitti ke Ganesh’ was held to highlight concerns over water pollution due to immersion of plaster of Paris idols during the festival season.
Over 3000 idols were made under the guidance of experts which put Ujjain in the golden book of world records. These idols will be distributed on Friday. Students from Sandipani Higher Secondary School, Fazalpura, Government high school, Fazalpura, Government school of excellence, Shastri Nagar, government girls’ higher secondary school, Dhanmandi, Virgin Mary higher secondary school, Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Savyasachi higher secondary school, Maharshi Sandipani high school, etc, participated in the workshop.
The workshop was conducted as part of Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay birth centenary celebrations. Golden Book of World Records representative, Manish Vishnoi was present in the workshop and praised the efforts of students and organizing committee. Former vice-chancellor of Vikram University, Ramrajesh Mishra, Mandi Committee president Bahadur Singh Bormundla, convener Anil Jain Kaluheda, president Surendra Singh Arora and others were present.
311 Ganesha idols to be distributed on Friday
Lokmanya Tilak Ganeshotsav Mahaayojan Samiti will distribute 311 eco-friendly Ganesh idols to various public and official committees of all 54 wards of the city, to be placed during the festival. The distribution event will be conducted at the premises of Chimanganj Krishi Upaj Mandi on Friday at 11 am. Convener Anil Jain Kaluheda informed that these idols will be placed at 311 public platforms including the mandi premises, UMC headquarters, Madhav Sewa Nyas and others.
