The true celebrities at the ‘Infinite Opportunity’ fashion show held this weekend by NGO Tamana and Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) were the differently-abled children who walked in garments by India’s leading designers.

Hosted at the Hyatt Regency hotel in the Capital, the show witnessed capsule collections by designer Abraham & Thakore, Anju Modi, Gaurav Jai Gupta, Payal Jain, Amit Aggarwal, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Payal Pratap Singh and Sanjay Garg.

The evening began with a collection made by the students of Pearl Academy Fashion Laboratory in collaboration with the inmates of Jail no. 6 at Tihar Jail, who are currently enrolled in the fashion program.

The models for these ensembles were none other than the children of Tamana, who walked with utmost confidence in front of a large crowd and a pit of photographers. The music was rendered by visually impaired singer, Diwakar Sharma who floored the audience with his remarkable rendition of popular Bollywood tracks.

Actress Kriti Sanon walked the runway in an upcycled dress by Amit Aggarwal – in keeping with the theme of sustainability in clothing – but the belle of the ball was Tamana Chona who strutted the runway in a pretty kurta with white pants. She danced on the stage and gave a heartwarming speech on how this should be considered an age of opportunity for differently-abled people. The crowd applauded her as she spoke of not wanting to wear make-up on the runway because she was pretty – an awareness that so many women lack today.
