KOHIMA: Children of 23 schools along with their teachers on Saturday took out a rally here as part of the ‘Include Vidya Campaign’ for inclusion of children with disability in the education system throughout the country.
Director of state School Education Department Wonthungo Tsopoe emphasized on the need to spread better awareness for inclusive education, specially in rural areas.
“Everyone has the same right under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) but awareness has to be created so that no one is neglected out of ignorance about the special abilities,” he said.
Advisor of Nagaland State Disabled Forum Diethono Nakhro said, “Everyone deserves equal education and therefore we appeal for inclusion of the children with special needs in the education system of the state and country through SSA.”
The Include Vidya Campaign initiated by an NGO, CBM, is a nationwide campaign to complement the government’s flagship programme SSA to achieve its goal of ‘Education for All’.
