AMRITSAR: Employing waste materials such as used pipes and bicycle wheels that would ultimately have ended in a trash can, the staff and students of the Creative Arts Department of Spring Dale Senior School turned the school’s waste into an art from– a sculpture bearing the semblance of a wheelchair-bound child, harboring bright dreams of flying high, supported by an elder – an expression of the school’s achievements in inclusive education.
The sculpture was conceived with the twin aim of urging the masses to resort to environmentally friendly practices by following the maxim ‘Reduce, reuse, recycle’ and to be more supportive of the cause of the education of children with special abilities, said school principal Rajiv Kumar Sharma
“Our aim is to try and make people understand that children with special abilities have dreams too, and the right kind of environment and support can help them achieve their dreams and heights that they desire to attain,” he said.
