REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Power, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) to provide financial assistance of Rs. 2.92 crore for upgrading medical infrastructure at ITBP field hospitals under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
An official spokesperson said the funding will facilitate the procurement and installation of advanced medical equipment for ITBP field hospitals in Leh, Narayanpur (Chhattisgarh), Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), Dehradun (Uttarakhand), and Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh). “The initiative, to be implemented by the REC Foundation, aims to benefit ITBP personnel, their families, dependents, ex-CAPF members, and civilians in these areas,” he added.
The agreement was signed on December 30 by Pradeep Fellows, Executive Director (CSR) of REC Limited, and Shri S.C. Mamgain, Inspector General (Admin) of ITBP. Speaking at the event, Shri Fellows emphasized the importance of addressing healthcare needs in underserved regions. “This initiative supports the brave ITBP personnel while fostering healthier, more resilient communities. It highlights our commitment to improving lives in remote and often overlooked areas,” he said.
The upgraded facilities will significantly enhance healthcare delivery in these challenging regions, enabling faster diagnostics, improved patient care, and timely medical interventions. The project is expected to benefit approximately 1.5 lakh ITBP personnel and civilians, including those in high-altitude and Naxalite-affected areas.
The enhancements will reduce patient wait times, improve critical care services, and ensure the continuity of essential healthcare. By providing access to quality medical services, the initiative aims to improve health outcomes and bring peace of mind to both ITBP personnel and local communities.
