Ooredoo has announced that it is sponsoring an initiative that promotes accessible opportunities for learning. In line with its commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, one of which is ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education with opportunities for all, the telco leader confirmed its sponsorship of Qatar Foundation education organisation, Muallemi.
Muallemi was founded by two students with a belief in equal opportunities for education, to ensure students in Qatar could access affordable tutoring to bolster their school or university studies. Muallemi offers personalised virtual 1-to-1 sessions in Mathematics, Science, and English. Sabah Rabiah al-Kuwari, director, PR at Ooredoo, said: “We have a strategic commitment to the UNSDGs and in particular those relating to community, education, and health and well-being. We are entirely committed to raising awareness of the importance of gaining a quality education, to support the future generation of people that will be running our country, and are delighted to be providing our support to such a worthwhile initiative.”
Available to students from school age to university, Muallemi helps to bridge any existing learning gaps, with one-to-one virtual tutoring sessions that are customised to their specific needs. The rewards-based learning system makes the programme more engaging and enjoyable, with the overall aim being to help the students achieve improved learning outcomes.
Muallemi is incubated at Qatar Science & Technology Park and has recently completed its pilot programme with Tariq bin Ziad and Qatar Academy Sidra. In addition to 1-to-1 support offered at home, Muallemi also partners with schools in order to improve learning outcomes in the classroom.
“As we move ever further into the digital age, it’s vital that students can access education digitally in the same way other aspects of their lives shift to digital. Our corporate strategy includes an aim of digital transformation, in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030, and this latest CSR initiative is a clear demonstration of our commitment to helping our country achieve this goal,” al-Kuwari added.
