Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has made elaborate arrangements at various lakes for eco-friendly immersion of idols of Lord Ganesh on the last day of 12-day festival of elephant-headed God. A number of voluntary and social organisations have been assigned specific works for peaceful, eco-friendly immersion of deity.
In the meeting held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Health Officer Pradeep Dasarwar, the responsibility of collecting Nirmalya has been given to voluntary organisations. Kanak Resources Management Ltd has been given the task of transporting Nirmalya at designated places.
The NMC has developed an Android App “Morya” through which the citizens can locate the nearest immersion spot where artificial tanks will be in place. This year, artificial tanks will be available at 184 places across the city where devotees can immerse idols of Lord Ganesh. Mayor Nanda Jichkar took stock of preparation of immersion of idols of Lord Ganesh in the city. The civic body is ready for the peaceful, eco-friendly immersion of the deity. The citizens will not face any problem during immersion, Mayor hoped.
At Futala Lake, Green Vigil Foundation will be at work of collecting Nirmalya and monitoring eco-friendly immersion of idols from Air Force side of the lake. Members of Rotary Club, Mihan Town (Rotary) and Nagpur Elite (Rotary) will be at task from Amravati Road side.
At Gandhisagar Lake, members of Rotary Club Nagpur East and Northeast, Yog Sampada will be active from Khadigramodyog and Tata Parsi School.
At Naik Talao, activists of Vruksha Samvardhan Sanstha will handle the job.
At Ambazari Overflow point, the task will be done by activists of Vruksha Samvardhan Sanstha and Nisarga Vidnyan Sanstha.
At Sonegaon Lake, members of Green Earth Organisation and Rotary Club Nagpur West will take responsibility.
At Sakkardara Lake, members of Aranya Sanstha and Nisarga Vidnyan Sanstha will collect Nirmalya.
At Sanjay Gandhi Lake in Khadan area, Sparsh Janhitay Sanstha will carry out the job.
At Gorewada Lake, activists of WIPES will be at the job to collect Nirmaly and ensure eco-friendly immersion.
