MRPL has been conducting Free Artificial Limb Camps every for the last 16 years for the benefit of amputees.
Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) has been undertaking Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities under the name of “Samrakshan”. This captures the spirit and commitment of MRPL’s CSR initiative that is to “protect, preserve and promote the social, cultural and environmental, heritage and wealth in and around the area of our business and to usher in sustainable development”.
Pursuant to the introduction of the Companies Act 2013, followed by release of Company (Corporate Social Responsibility Policy) Rules, 2014 by Ministry of Corporate Affairs & Guidelines on CSR & Sustainable Development (SD) for CPSEs by Dept of Public Enterprises (DPE), MRPL is rededicating itself to ensure sustainable and equitable development through a well-orchestrated CSR program.
The main focus areas are
- Shiksha Samrakshan
- Arogya Samrakshan
- Bahujan Samrakshan
- Prakrithi Samrakshan
- Sanskrithi Samrakshan
With these objectives, MRPL has implemented a number of CSR programmes.
Under Shiksha Samrakshan, MRPL has carried out disbursement of scholarships to the nearby schools, distribution of uniform and note books to students, construction of girls and boys toilet and its maintenance, construction of class room, science lab, Anganwadi etc.

Under Bahujan Samrakshan, MRPL in association with Ramakrishna Math and Matha Amrithanandamayi Mutt is supporting Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyaan to create awareness among the general public about cleanliness and to contribute to Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharath Abhiyaan. MRPL has also helped neighbouring villages under 7 Panchayats to become smoke free by providing them LPG kit and one time free LPG cylinder. Some of the other projects undertaken by MRPL are pipe compost project at Bala Grama Panchayat, community hall modification, support to child care centre, support to old age home and infrastructural development of local Panchayat, village accountant office etc. MRPL has also supported infrastructure development of 10 SC/ST hostels in Dakshina Kannada District by providing projector and computer.
Under Prakrithi Samrakshan, MRPL in association with Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat is undertaking installation of RO units at six villages, drinking water projects at Chelaieru, rain water harvesting project at Bajpe etc. Under Sanskrithi Samrakshan, MRPL is supporting the local cultural heritage. MRPL’s CSR activities benefit the communities in and around its operational area by enhancing the quality of life & economic wellbeing of the society.
