Mphasis, Genpact to give Rs.60 lakhs to social innovators as CSR

The two firms will use their CSR funds to support innovations that will help in imparting skill training for employment, primary and secondary education and other relevant areas

IT services companies Mphasis Ltd and Genpact Ltd along with Nasscom Foundation, the not-for-profit arm of software lobby Nasscom, will give Rs.60 lakh to social innovators who use technology-led innovation to create social impact.

The two companies, as part of the Nasscom Social Innovation Forum, will use their corporate social responsibility funds to support innovations that will help in imparting skill training for employment, primary and secondary education, healthcare, accessibility, women’s safety and other relevant areas.

This is the second year these companies are giving grants towards for these. Last year, they gave a total of Rs.30 lakh to three social enterprises—SkillTrain Training and Consultancy India Pvt. Ltd, a skills training company; Enability Technologies and Tamana, which works in developing technology solutions for people with special needs.

The focus areas are in line with the objectives of the government’s Digital India Plan and the CSR efforts of the industry, said the two companies in a release.

“One of the biggest challenges for people living in underserved communities is a lack of education and skills. ThroughNasscom Social Innovation Forum, we hope to create an ecosystem which not only produces innovators but also drives inclusion.” said Ganesh Natarajan, chairman, Nasscom Foundation.
