In a first, Captain Zoya Aggarwal flew over the North pole along with an all-women cockpit crew on Jan 9, 2020. Captain Zoya Aggarwal who turned a new leaf in the Indian aviation history. Capt Zoya commanded Air India’s direct flight, on one of the world’s longest air routes. The non-stop commercial flight covered nearly 16,000 kms. “I felt on top of the North Pole” said an elated Capt Zoya.
The other female pilots in the flight were Capt Papagari Thanmai, Capt Akansha Sonaware and Capt Shivani Manhas. Air India’s inaugural flight touched down at Bengaluru airport from San Francisco on Jan 11. Capt Zoya and her entire crew received a grand welcome. “My mother cried out of fear when I told her about my wish to become a pilot. But everytime I achieve a feat, she sheds tears of joy” said Captain Zoya. With this latest feat Capt Zoya and her all-women crew has paved the way for women empowerment.
