She says that chocolate doesn’t have to be a guilty pleasure
Simsanté chocolate has been launched by a Leicester mum
A mum-of-two, who is a qualified nutritionist, has launched what she describes as “the first ever superfood chocolate.”
Made from only natural ingredients, the Simsanté range of chocolate has been created by Simrin Singh, who, having failed to find any guilt-free nutritious chocolate that was bursting with flavour, decided to make her own.
She told LeicestershireLive: “During the lockdown, it was family and food that brought us all together. We looked forward to that post-meal chocolate indulgence.https://get-latest.convrse.media/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.leicestermercury.co.uk%2Fwhats-on%2Ffood-drink%2Fleicester-mum-launches-first-ever-5497991&cre=top&cip=5&view=web
“My quest for finding the perfect chocolate, which satisfied our cravings, but also was nutritious, was what gave birth to Simsanté.
“What I found in the market was either sugar laden chocolate or dark chocolate which was far too boring and bitter.
“I started experimenting with different ingredients and my passion paved way to my third baby! I was in love with that feeling of enjoying something scrumptious without any nasties, just pure goodness!”
According to Simrin, she drew on her Indian heritage and knowledge of the unique alchemy of spices, her ayurvedic know-how, and her love of the cocoa bean, to create the “best-tasting” organic chocolate, which is full of flavour and uses only natural, plant-based ingredients, to give a protein and antioxidant-rich chocolate, bursting with goodness and sweetness only from natural ingredients.
The self-described “proud chocoholic” says her collection of handcrafted chocolate has more nutritional value than any other dark chocolate brand on the market, due to its unique combination of ingredients.
These include ancient grains, essential oils, protein rich nuts, gut strengthening spices like ginger and turmeric, seeds packed with omega 3, organic dark chocolate rich in flavanoids and other antioxidants, and jaggery, which is a pure sugarcane juice, used instead of refined sugar.
She said: “Over the years, we have always been conditioned to believe that chocolate is a treat, a guilty pleasure. I wanted to change that misconception by using natural sweeteners, spices and other plant based ingredients to make ‘super chocolate’ – pure, natural, guilt-free indulgence.”
Flavours available include Matcha Tastic, which includes Matcha green tea, Milky Magic for fans of milk chocolate, Orange Power, a vegan chocolate, made with wild orange essential oil, and Cappuccino Crunch, charged with ground coffee beans.
Prices start from £8.95 for a four bar taster box, and can be purchased from the Simsanté website.
