The Differently Abled Branch of the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association (SLGGA) is celebrating its centenary year in style.
The line up of events that began in May will continue until May next year. The events began with religious observances and a news conference was held on May 28 at the National Library to discuss the events planned for the year.
The “Centenary Launch” revealing the centenary logo, song and cookie will take place on June 8, and a festival of talent will be held from September 7 to 14.
Workshops for caregivers including parents and family members have also been planned.
A “Fashion show with a difference” and a festival of song and dance followed by an international camp and workshop are on the schedule for 2025.
Formally known as the “Ceylon Girl Guides Association”, the SLGGA dates back to 1917 where it began at Girls’ High School Kandy.
In 1956, the branch for the differently abled was officially launched.
