Project, Chungtia. Rajit Ranjan Okhandier, member secretary CSB, Bangaluru, Ministry of Textile visited Eri-Silk Dev. Project (ESDP) for women empowerment at Chungtia village on January 7. A press release from ESDP Chungtia nodal officer and consultant Imotemjen stated that, Chungtia Village Council (CVC) as the executing agency of the project accorded a warm traditional welcome. A short meeting was held with the member secretary, village council members and all beneficiaries. Rajit expressed satisfaction on the physical performance of the project and thanked the CVC and urged upon them to keep up the same spirit in the days to come. He said the quantum of work done was much more than the fund CSB released so far. Regretting delays in release of fund, he said that it was due to obvious reasons in the past, however he assured to release the next installment at the earliest.He further said, higher up officials who are in Delhi might think Nagaland was a remote state and have an apprehension that, fund allotted to such areas may be wasted in vain. But seeing the performance, he said that “you are doing much better than others”. The He even assured to consider for new project in the village provided the CVC ensured to implement with the same spirit of understanding.Earlier, Imotemjen delivered welcome address and brief report on the implementation of the project. Vote of thanks was delivered by the chairperson of the programme Akumyala. The project was sanctioned by the Ministry of Textiles, India during 2018-19 and implemented from 2019-20 to develop 300 acres of land for eri-silk plantation by 300 women farmers to enhance their economic condition.
