IREDA will provide financial assistance of Rs 1.05 crore for the development of Sport Science Centre in Uttarakhand under its CSR initiative
The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), will provide financial assistance of Rs 1.05 crore for the development of the Sport Science Centre in Uttarakhand under its CSR initiative. In this regard, a memorandum of agreement (MoA) has been signed on Thursday between IREDA and SEWA-THDC, a THDCIL-sponsored not-for-profit registered society.
The CSR project is sanctioned for the development of a Sports Science Centre Hall (approximately 298 Sq. meters) at Koteshwar, Tehri in Uttarakhand to support the training of Indian athletes in the Kayaking and Canoeing discipline.
The MoA has been signed by IREDA’s Additional General Manager (HR) Durre Shahwar and THDCIL’s General Manager (S&E) Amardeep in the presence of IREDA CMD Pradip Kumar Das, IREDA’s Director (Finance and Projects) Dr Bijay Kumar Mohanty THDCIL’s Director (Personnel) Shallinder Singh and other Senior management of IREDA.
Speaking on the occasion, IREDA CMD highlighted that the development of Sport Science Centre Hall is a fundamental milestone towards the planned development of a world-class High-Performance Academy dedicated to the sport of Kayaking and Canoeing, with the goal of long-term athlete development and excellence situated in Koteshwar, Tehri, Uttarakhand.
He emphasized that while the investment in sports related activities ensures improvement in health care, IREDA intends to support providing advanced facilities to the sportspersons for improvement in the overall health and performances in the sports of Kayaking and Canoeing.
The CSR initiative gets covered under the CSR activities notified under schedule VII of Section 135 of the Company’s Act – which uplifts training to promote rural sports, nationally recognised sports, paralympic sports and Olympic sports.
