KATHMANDU, Jan 24: In a rare case, Shristi Goswami , 19, has been picked as the chief minister of Indian state of Uttarakhand for one day during the child assembly session taking place today.
Uttarakhand state government, itself, elected Goswami as the CM of the state, coinciding with the National Girl Child Day that falls on January 24.
Although symbolically, Shrist is taking the charge of first female CM of the Indian state that borders Nepal. She is an undergraduate BSc Agriculture student at BSM PG College Roorkee.
According to state government officials, they decided to make the teenager the CM of the province for one day in a bid to promote and educate women empowerment.
“I am delighted to be the CM of Uttarakhand state for a day. During my one-day tenure, I will advise the government on matters related to security of women,” Goswami wrote on social media after being picked as the CM for one day.
