It will be useful to apply for ID cards and get benefits of various schemes
The district unit of National Informatics Centre (NIC) has unveiled an user friendly mobile app for differently abled persons, a first of its kind initiative in the State.
Information Technology Minister M. Manikandan released the app named ‘DAPWEL’ (Differently Abled Persons Welfare) at a function organised by the District Differently Abled Persons Welfare Office (DDAWO) here on Saturday. Collector S. Natarajan was present.
NIC has developed the app to reduce the hardship faced by the differently abled people and help them avail the benefits of government welfare schemes by using their smart mobile phones or by visiting the nearest Internet centre, Rajasekar, District Informatics Officer, said.
“The government could introduce the app for the benefit of differently abled people all over the State.”
Differently abled people who had registered with the DDAWO could avail identity cards and benefits under the welfare schemes by applying online after downloading the app, he said.
The app has been developed to apply for the national identity cards and check eligibility criteria and avail benefits under various welfare schemes and National Informatics Centre would introduce a host of other features in the coming days, he said.
Mr. Manikandan said differently abled people could download the App by visiting www.ramnad.tn.nic.in. A total of 27,591 differently abled people have registered with the DDAWO in the district and they could avail the benefits by using their mobile phones.
