Summary: Our Correspondent Mandi Ahmedgarh, Sept 25 The local unit of the Bhartia Valmiki Dharam Samaj has launched social welfare programme to observe the Valmiki Jayanti. Besides providing free books and stationery the outfit has launched the save earth movement by planting saplings of shady and fruit trees. Inaugural session of the coordinated programme was presided over by Sohan Ghoshi and Superintendent of Police (SP), Malerkotla, Raj Kumar Jalhotra. Appreciating initiative taken by office-bearers and activists of the organisation, Jalhotra said he had advised the local staff and the SHO, Baljinder Singh, to play an active role in social welfare projects being launched by residents from time to time. The organisations have also coordinated with heads of government and private-aided schools for providing free books and stationary to deserving students.

According to the Newspaper,Initiating the tree plantation at the city police station, the project convener, Sohan Lal Ghoshi, said saplings of shady and fruit trees were being planted at public places and along roads and streets. The organisations have also coordinated with heads of government and private-aided schools for providing free books and stationary to deserving students. “Earlier, we used to organise langars and other events to celebrate Valmiki Jayanti, but this year we have drafted a programme to save environment and help the needy students in education,” added Ghoshi.
