Here is a story of Dattu Bhokanal:

Dattu is the son of a farmer and well-digger. At a young age of 9, he set out to help his father; breaking stones and lifting huge boulders. He toiled for 8 hours each day under the hot sun to afford his meals. A young Dattu back then didn’t even know what the Olympic Games were. But, his tough childhood prepared him, in body and mind, for strength and endurance that athletes takes years to build. In its own way destiny was preparing Dattu for a future in sports.
After the tragic death of his father, Dattu worked at a petrol pump and earned Rs.3000-Rs.4000/month which wasn’t enough for his family. To improve his financial condition, Dattu moved to Pune to enroll in the army. While training, all the boys were given a rowing test. Dattu who didn’t even know how to swim then, was placed by his subedar(owing to his tall and broad built) in rowing. He immediately started receiving training.
Dattu is currently training 4 hours each day in Pune and is working towards winning at Tokyo!
