Courage and Creativity: Differently-Abled Student Kumar Birbal Lohra Inspires with Endemic Species Models

In a world often defined by challenges, some individuals rise above their circumstances, becoming beacons of inspiration for others. One such story is that of a CwSN student named Kumar Birbal Lohra, a Class 10 student from GSSS Vijay Nagar, through his model titled ‘Endemic Species of A&N Islands’ in the Rajya Stariya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshani has astounded everyone with his remarkable artistic talent. He has created impressive models using clay featuring countless species native to the A&N Islands, including the rare leatherback turtle found exclusively in Campbell Bay. Despite being unable to hear or speak, this talented student has found a powerful voice through his art, which speaks volumes about his passion and dedication.
His friend, Kumar Sagar acting as a mediator, shared that Birbal has a deep love for arts and excels in various forms such as drawing, painting, woodcraft and repurposing plastic waste into creative masterpieces. His exceptional work has earned him several accolades in school competitions, showcasing his ability to shine despite the odds.

Through sheer determination and hard work, Birbal single handedly crafted all the species displayed in the exhibition using locally available clay from Campbell Bay, disclosed his friend Sagar. Birbal’s creations not only celebrate the rich biodiversity of the Islands but also demonstrate his commitment to representing his school with pride. His participation in the State Level Exhibition ‘Gyanodaya’ being organised by Education Department of A&N Administration serves as a shining example of resilience, creativity and the extraordinary potential that lies within every individual, regardless of their challenges. Birbal’s journey is not just about overcoming a physical limitation; it is a testament to the power of determination, resilience and the human spirit. His artwork is on endemic species of A&N Islands viz. Nicobar Megapode, Reticulated Python, Leatherback Turtles, Saltwater Crocodiles, Nicobar Flying Fox, etc.

Birbal, a resident of Vijay Nagar is the son of Shri Dil Mohan Lohra, a Blacksmith.
Participating in Gyanodaya, this boy demonstrates that barriers are often mental constructs. By refusing to let his disability define his capabilities, he shows others that challenges can be stepping stones to greatness.
