Lucknow: Asha Malviya, a cyclist from Madhya Pradesh, was felicitated by UP chief secretary DS Mishra on Tuesday for her solo cycling journey of 23 states.
On a mission to spread awareness on women empowerment, Asha had set the target of covering 25,000km across 23 states of which she has already covered 19,000km so far.
Speaking at the felicitation ceremony at LDA office, the chief secretary praised Malviya’s efforts towards raising awareness about women’s safety and empowerment. He also highlighted the state government’s zero tolerance policy towards crime. Malviya, a national-level athlete and mountaineer, began her cycling expedition from Bhopal on November 1, 2022. She recently reached Uttar Pradesh which is the 23rd state that she covered.
Divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob, LDA vice-chairperson Indramani Tripathi, and LDA secretary Pavan Kumar Gangwar were present.
