For the first time, postal ballots made available for differently-abled and senior citizens above 80 years

Persons suffering from COVID-19 would also be able to exercise their franchise via postal ballot.

Differently-abled persons and senior citizens above 80 years of age from now on, would not need to polling stations to cast their votes.

For the first time in the history of Indian elections, the Assam Election Commission has announced that postal ballots would be made available for differently abled persons and senior citizens above 80 years of age.

Apart from differently abled persons and senior citizens above 80 years of age, persons suffering from COVID-19 would also be able to exercise their franchise via postal ballot.

“If they want to cast their votes through postal ballot, then they can contact their respective BLO/RO to submit their application 12(D) along with necessary certificate issued by competent authority,” said a statement issued by the Assam Election Commission.
