Toyota Kirloskar Motors CSR Initiative: Provide Health & Hygiene Kits To 25,000 Families

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses across the globe have either shut down or slowed down. Many business entities and manufacturers have done a lot of things to stop the spread and help citizens fight the spread of the COVID-19. Toyota Kirloskar Motor, out of many, has taken several initiatives to help stop the spread.

One of the initiatives done by Toyota was the distribution of health and hygiene kits through an employee-led CSR program called Sanjeevini. Under this initiative, the company distributed health and hygiene kits to 5,000 employees. Each employee then distributed the kits themselves to five families in their neighbourhoods in Bangalore urban and rural areas. A total of 25,000 kits were distributed to the people.

Commenting on the successful completion of the initiative, Vikram Gulati, Country Head & Senior Vice President, External Affairs, Public Relations, Corporate Social Responsibility & Corporate Governance, TKM, said, “Since the onset of the pandemic, TKM has been proactively responding to the crisis according to the needs of the community as well as by supporting the Government efforts. The distribution of the health and hygiene kits carried out over the last one month is another such program aimed at empowering the community we live in. The idea for distribution of the kits stemmed from the view of safeguarding not just our employees but also the other families residing in their neighbourhoods. In all, 25,000 families or about 1,00,000 people were benefited by the health and hygiene kits. As a responsible corporate citizen, we will continue with such endeavours in the battle against the coronavirus spread.”

What did the PPE kits have? The kits contained a sanitizer bottle, three-ply facemasks and hand-wash soap. The employees created awareness of how to maintain health and hygiene during the COVID-19 pandemic. Educating the people about social distancing norms was also a part of this Sanjeevini initiative, which is the first thing to do during this global crisis.

Through this CSR initiative, Toyota has been able to help a large number of people by educating them and distributing PPE kits to safeguard them from the COVID-19 pandemic. It is good to see that a lot of manufacturers have been helping in some way or the other during this global pandemic.
