She’s keen on empowering and inspiring female entrepreneurs. DuBose does so by providing classes, coaching, and consulting on topics ranging from how to create a website, and email marketing to building your brand online and offline.
As an educator, DuBose said her purpose is to inspire and motivate others to live a life they love. Through her women’s organization, “The Single Wives Club”, she provides resources for single ladies to become better women before becoming wives by investing in self-development.
She is also the creator of “ReadyToWERK”. WERK University’s mission is to connect women of color
with the resources they need so they can save themselves, stop living paycheck to paycheck and make an impact on the world. “I empower entrepreneurs to become their best, build their brand and be their own boss,” she stated.
She, however, left the classroom in 2011 and in the past eight years, she’s built multiple brands from scratch; from developing products to creating courses, hosting events and radio shows.
“During my first year as an elementary school teacher, I realized there was more to life than 40-hour work weeks and $28,000 salary. I knew I was creative enough to choose my own path. I learned early that calculated risks were crucial to success and left my career with no job in sight. I forced myself to sink or swim, truly stepping out on faith,” she told Essence.
According to her, she’s spent a lot of time trying to empower other women to do the same. This year, she is focusing on less empowerment and more payments hence the birth of WERK University.
Touching on the Single Wife app, she said: “They always seem to come at the perfect time and are great in helping me remain cool, calm and connected!”
Additionally, DuBose launched a Werk magazine to be a source of inspiration for WERKing
women of colour as well as a media outlet providing representation for women doing POSITIVE things. She is a recipient of two 40 under 40 awards.
