Kerala: TOI’s all-women bike rally drives home a message

KOCHI: The Times of India, with support from the Bike &
& Bullet Lady Riders (B&BLR) organized an all-women bike rally on Sunday,
as part of the Kerala formation day celebrations.

The rally, ‘Manga Mamangam’, in which traditional sari-clad
women participated, took off from IOC-owned petrol pump
at Janatha Junction near Vyttila and ended at Ravipuram.

The rally was aimed at promoting social causes to inspire
women. The event was organized in association with Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Yasoram Builders.

A total of 30 bikes with women riders and pillion riders covered a distance 20km, throwing light on many social causes connected with women empowerment and safety.

The event was inaugurated by IOCL state head and chief general manager V C Asokan and attended by K Navin Charan, GM, retail sales for Kerala; C N Rajendrakumar, GM in- charge for LPG sales, Kerala, and
CP Unnikrishnan, GM for LPG sales, Cochin region. Yasoram Builders
director Manju Vadhyar also attended the event.

The rally concluded at Cochin Shipyard, where CSL CGM for HR K J Ramesh as well as DGM (personal and administration) Subhash A K explained why CSL strongly supports all the projects related to women empowerment andwomen safety. They handed over certificates to the participants.
