A banker by profession and biker, musician & YouTuber by passion, Onen Nenty will ride on her Royal Enfield Himalayan through all the 12 districts of Nagaland
Onen Nenty is on a mission. The 27-year-old banker has just set off on a solo tour on her trusted Royal Enfield Himalayan bike to spread the message of women empowerment.
Nenty, who is also a passionate biker besides being a musician and YouTuber, will ride through all the 12 districts of Nagaland. Her journey was flagged off by Nagaland governor PB Acharya and and his wife from Raj Bhavan in Kohima on Wednesday morning. She will record her entire trip on two GoPro cameras.
Nenty will first tour Kiphire, the lone aspirational district of the state. She will, however, return to Kohima to perform a gig on World Music Day on June 21 before departing for the other districts.
“I’m so excited,” Nenty told EastMojo. “It’s purely passion with a mission. I hope to promote our rich culture through my motovlog channel. I also want to inspire women to come out of their comfort zones and follow their dreams and passion.”
“I’m also excited as I will also be meeting motorcycle clubs and talk about bikes and social causes,” she added.
“My trip to Ladakh was a spiritual awakening. I rode and cried for as long as I could remember and that for me was the purest moment,” she said. Since then she has been following her instincts to go on memorable tours.
While most people would prefer indoors at this time of the year, the 27-year-old girl is determined to follow her passion. “It’s rainy season but for passionate people, day or night, rainy or sunny, I have to do what I have to do,” she added.
Commenting on maintaining a work-life balance, Nenty said: “We need to sacrifice our life to chase our dreams, passions and, most importantly, tune our spiritual life too. You need to sacrifice something to get something from God too. For that you need dedication. So, it’s a situation where if you give your best then God will work out the rest for you.”
“We are all beautifully designed in a unique way and we should make use of the given opportunities and fulfill the purpose driven Life,” she added.
Nenty is touring the state under the banner of ‘Kongro Naga on Wheels’ (KNOW), an NGO she founded in association with K&K motors, Monster Beverage and Dream Cafe. ‘Kongro’ in Ao Naga dialect refers to women from the Ongpangkong range, one of the six mountain ranges of Mokokchung district in Nagaland.
Meanwhile, women clad in traditional Ao Naga attire and the KNOW team, besides Naga artiste Mengu Suokhrie, were present during the send-off ceremony on Wednesday morning.
