The Department of Women and Child Development Ferozepur has started a 100-day awareness campaign to increase awareness about women-cantered issues under women empowerment. This campaign will be run till 4 October 2024 and it aims to amplify awareness and outreach on women’s empowerment, encompassing enrolment drives and educational sessions nationwide. This 100-day program reaffirms its commitment to fostering women’s empowerment across sectors such as education, health, livelihood and social security.
In the second week of the campaign, Gurpreet Singh, District Coordinator of Mission Shakti – Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW), organized an awareness camp about the PCPNDT Act in the meeting hall of the office. The objective of the Mission Shakti is to provide to all women and girls including differently-abled, socially and economically marginalized and vulnerable groups, in need of care and protection, with short-term and long-term services and information for their holistic development and empowerment.
He said the campaign will play a pivotal role in advancing women-led development aligned with the national vision to enhance women’s participation in development schemes.
Meanwhile, he made them aware of feticide as a sin and asked them to create awareness in this regard. He said that women themselves have to be aware to prevent female feticide. Apart from this, he also shared information about the schemes offered by the department.
On this occasion, Sonia Sharma, Anganwadi workers along health department employees were also present.
